don't worry molting can take a good while. i've heard of chickens taking 6-7 months to grow feathers back.
you might even try force molting.this is very stressful for birds and it better to wait but here's how it goes:
confine your flock to where the ventilation is good and where you can limit lighting to 8 hours/day. Continue free-choice water, but discontinue lay ration. Instead, feed oats freechoice along with 1/2 lb scratch per dozen hens per day. Enclude a vitamin/mineral supplement. After 2 weeks, gradually replace the oats with lay ration. At the same time, gradually increase lighting to 15 hours/day.
As I said, it's very stressful on the birds because of the environment and food change.

It's really easy just get a stirafoam box and some poultry netting.
punch a dime sized hole in the lid and set the netting on the bottom so that the egg will not rest on the bottom of the box.
then place a small heater/heat pad in the box (DO NOT let it touch the egg). to keep the temp. around 91 degrees farenhite.
place a small dish with water inside to keep humidity up.
flip the egg once in the morning and once in the evening to keep even heating for the first 18 days then within the next3-6 days the egg will hatch.

good luck

Like I said, I've locked up ducks, silkies, and other chickens in the same house at night, let them out in the same pin in the day, and they all acted like family to each other.

if its just for incubating eggs, the cheapest way is to buy a small styrofoam one from a farm supply outlet for $100. If you want something for raising chicks, dismantle the top components, get a digital thermostat, and wire the peices together to the top of a rubbermaid cooler lid that you've modified to have a plexiglass pane in it.

If the turtle left the nest exposed, the eggs are probably infertile. Turtles do a lot of 'practice' nests.

In the wild, it would be covered with a mix of sand and decaying vegetation several inches, or even up a couple of feet thick depending on several variables.

The nest would be slightly damp inside at all times, and the decaying vegetation would generate heat for the eggs. Again, this is difficult for us to duplicate.

Build a compost pile over the eggs- layers of damp leaves, grass clippings, sandy soil, etc. about 12-18" thick. Don't do much else for it- just leave it be and see what happens.

In the wild, eggs hatch out in about 25 to 300 days, with 2 or 3 months being the most common- all depending on things like the weather and other factors. The babies will emerge at different times- often at night- with almost no trace. Sometimes, a few eggshells may get pushed to the surface.

Good luck!

What I don't get is that on many of those foods "rice protien concentrate" or "rice gluten" are not on the labels. So what is the contaminated food source???

I was feeding Natural Blend for more than 5 years. 2 weeks ago one of my dogs came down with a mysterious illness (abdominal pain and some vomiting) that the vets have not figured out why he was sick. Fortunately, just about the time he got sick, I was in the process of finding a new food (which he did eat AFTER he was already sick). He has recovered now and seems to be doing okay now. I am waiting to hear from the vet if it could have been related to the food. Then I will be contacting RC about it.

I haven't had chickens since I was 10, and they were just common ones. But raising young ones that just hatched takes a few things. They need a warm room, as they don't have their mother for body heat. (Heater or Heating lamp = $$ to operate). Baby chick food. Water dispenser. And lots and lots of hay or newspapers (that will need to be changed often). My mom used to add a vitamin supplement to the water.
They will be noisy, and rowdy, but they're too cute!
They will need a huge yard to graze and be happy. They will eat all the plants, and end up with a bare soil yard. Once in a while when you cut your grass, you can throw them some, they'll go wild over it. Chickens have predators (depending where you live), so be careful! Fences or gaurd dogs. Also roosters will get into fights. I never had more than one... but I think if given the space, they won't fight all the time. In the winter they will need a source of heat.
And that's all I know about raising chickens.

Experiance.
